Hello and welcome to my little corner of the internet! My name is Evi, and I am a 24-year-old adventurer from The Netherlands. I have a degree in psychology and creative studies, and I aim to merge these fields with my love for travel. But before delving into my background and experiences, I'd like to share a bit more about myself.
I’m someone who thrives on staying active and learning new things. Whether it’s hitting the gym, practicing Spanish, or picking up unique skills like Morse code, I love keeping busy and organized. I also enjoy spending weekends with friends or occasionally working behind the bar, which ties back to my pub days. Finding balance in my bustling schedule is an ongoing adventure!
A brief history
Education
Apart from being a passionate traveler, I also have a background in the creative industry. This journey started in high school when I made the deliberate choice to attend a creative school, SintLucas in Eindhoven. At this school, in addition to regular subjects, we received extra education in creative fields such as arts and crafts, drawing, multimedia, graphic design, and art history. After four years at this school, I graduated with honors and moved on to the next stage.
Since I was young, I've always been fascinated by travel and wanted to explore the world. My grandmother used to go on amazing trips, which inspired me to start saving money for my own adventures. It all began with short city trips and gradually evolved into longer and more distant journeys.
Where everything comes together
The next stage was a study in psychology. My background in psychology helps me look deeper into the people of different places—what drives them, and what is normal for them that may be unusual for us? It's a bit like cross-cultural psychology. Psychology has also helped me truly connect with people and ask the right questions. I convey all of this through my experiences in the creative sector and across all my projects.
Me now
I'm currently proud of how things are going. I'm slowly building my own brand across different platforms. While everything is new and exciting, it's also a challenge. On the days I'm not working on my brand, I freelance for various companies, helping them with graphic design, social media, or photography. It's fantastic to spend my days being creative, coming up with fresh ideas, and bringing them to life.
Where do I want to go?
Here's my ultimate dream for EviExplores:
Travel Journalism: I aim to go beyond the surface of travel journalism by uncovering deeper, more meaningful stories on location. While I continue to share travel tips and routes, my focus is on the people, cultures, and untold narratives that shape a destination. This includes how traditions and rituals influence daily life, and what we in the West can learn from different cultural perspectives. By combining my psychology background with my passion for travel, I strive to create impactful stories that bring places to life in an authentic and thought-provoking way.
Website: I've created a website where I'll share these stories. Additionally, my website serves as a hub for travel blogs that help people plan their ultimate trip to their chosen destination. It's filled with all the tips and tricks you need to know.
Docuseries: It would be amazing to combine these stories into short episodes that help people navigate a country while sharing authentic stories from the locals. This series could be on YouTube, my website, and, who knows, maybe one day even on a streaming platform or network.
Shop: Once my travel platform is fully established, I'd love to start selling items, such as handy travel gadgets or t-shirts featuring designs I've created.
