Behind the Designs

Welcome to my design portfolio! I’m proud to say that I’ve been a graphic designer for 10 years and have worked on many beautiful projects during that time. My journey began at SintLucas in Eindhoven, where I graduated cum laude. After that, I completed my bachelor's degree and worked part-time at a company where I was responsible for social media and marketing. In the meantime, I started my own business, offering graphic design services to freelancers and companies.

I’d love to take you on a journey through time, from 2014 to now. Here, you can not only see my best projects but also follow the progress in my creative process. You’ll find school final projects, sketches, and client work. Finally, I’ll wrap up with one of my proudest moments: the certificates from Glow and the Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven

Creating My Own Game - 2014

In my first year at SintLucas, we had just gotten used to working with all the Adobe programs when we received this assignment. We had to create our own game. I was responsible for designing the game board and the box. Everything was created in Illustrator and printed on sticker paper, which was then applied to the box.

Art Auction - 2015

At SintLucas in Eindhoven, they organized an art auction every year where artworks from second-year students were auctioned off. The proceeds went to charity. In 2015, I was in my second year and decided to create this artwork of Nelson Mandela in Adobe Illustrator. From photo, to sketches, to the final artwork.

Adidas Campaign - 2016

The assignment was to give the company Adidas a fresh look. I started with a style guide and a mood board to determine the direction I wanted to take with my new design. From there, I went on to create a new logo and two new posters for the campaign

Last School Day - 2019

At my school, it was a tradition to celebrate the last school day, also known as LSD, with a day at an amusement park. It was customary for all the graduating students to wear matching shirts. That year, a friend and I were given the responsibility for this task. We started brainstorming and quickly settled on the theme 'Hippie.' She created a sketch, and I transformed it into a logo using Adobe Illustrator.

Yearbook - 2019

Because I had previously attended SintLucas, I took the lead in creating the yearbook for Peelland College in Deurne. I was responsible for the design of the cover, the pages, and the layout. To maintain the Hippie theme, I decided to keep the entire design in the style of the '70s and '80s. In the image on the right, you can see the cover of the yearbook, the inside of the cover, and three different pages.

Instagram Designs - 2022/2023

As a side job, I started working in the hospitality industry. After a while, I was not only behind the bar but also responsible for social media and events. Here are a few Instagram posts I created for events at The Ocean Deurne, D’n Borrel Deurne, De Beekman Deurne, and for DJ Demi Maria.

Print Products - 2022/2023

In addition to my social media and marketing tasks, I also created printed materials. These could be flyers, stickers, posters, or banners, as shown below. I often start with a small mind map or sketch before moving on to the computer to develop my design.

Tshirt Design - 2023/2024

I have been involved in design since high school. Not only for work, but I also enjoy designing prints for t-shirts in my free time. The process of creating a t-shirt design doesn’t always go smoothly. I often start with a mind map and then move on to sketching. With this sketch, I look for reference images and then develop my design on the computer. I always try to incorporate a personal element or add something that isn’t immediately visible. This could be a coded message, such as Morse code or Braille.

Certificates

At SintLucas in Eindhoven, I had the opportunity to create artworks for various events and organizations. Here are the certificates for those.

Glow Light Art Festival - 2015
In my second year at SintLucas, the entire year group had to create a light object. The seven best were selected and exhibited at Glow in Eindhoven. My light object was a cloud that I made myself. First, I glued balloons together and covered them with papier-mâché made from newspapers and white paper. Then, I attached cotton to the outside with a glue gun until everything was covered. Hanging from the cloud were cardboard butterflies, decorated with a mosaic of old CDs. To complete the look, I made holes at the bottom of the cloud for the lights, which reflected off the butterflies.

Dutch Design Week - 2015
In my third year at SintLucas, we were approached by the Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven with an assignment. The task was to create a wearable item, an accessory that also had a function. I decided to make a book bag: a small pouch for your book, with an additional pocket for your phone and a pen. Out of the entire third year, I was one of 15 students chosen, and my book bag was exhibited at the Klokgebouw in Eindhoven during the Dutch Design Week.
